Terms of Use

The agreement between you and Career Sentinel, in plain language first and legal detail after. Auf Deutsch →

The short version

1. Who you are contracting with

Maher Chehab, Schönestraße 23, 70372 Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt, Germany. Email: hallo@careersentinel.de. Career Sentinel is run by one person as a sole proprietorship, not by a company. Full details are in the Impressum.

These terms govern your use of careersentinel.de and app.careersentinel.de ("Career Sentinel", "the service"). They are the contract between you and me. Terms of your own do not become part of this contract unless I agree to them in writing.

2. What the service does

3. What the service does not do

This is the part worth reading properly.

It does not apply for jobs. Nothing is ever sent to an employer. There is no auto-apply, no automatic submission, no access to your mailbox and no acting on your behalf. Every application is sent by you, by hand, from your own email or the employer's own form.

It does not promise an outcome. No interview, no offer, no job, no visa, no residence permit, no timeline. Nothing here is a guarantee of any result.

It is not advice. The scores, the reasons and the documents are not legal advice, not immigration advice, not career counselling and not an assessment of your qualifications. If your residence permit or your right to work depends on a decision, ask a lawyer or the Ausländerbehörde, not this service.

It does not decide anything about you. A score is a judgement about a job posting. It is not a judgement about you, and nobody but you ever sees it.

4. Who may use it

You must be at least 18 years old and using Career Sentinel for your own job search. You may not upload someone else's CV, open accounts for other people, or resell or share your access.

5. How the contract starts

You enter your email address, we send you a one-time sign-in link, and the contract begins when you first sign in. There is no password. The link is valid for 15 minutes and a session lasts 30 days.

Keep control of your email account. Anyone who can read your inbox can request a link and sign in as you.

6. Beta, and what "free" means

Career Sentinel is in beta, which means all of the following at once:

If it ever becomes a paid service, you will be asked. You will be told in advance, and you will have to agree to the price separately before anything is charged. No account converts to a paid one by itself.

7. What the AI produces, and who is responsible for it

Career Sentinel uses large language models to read your CV, to score postings and to write your documents. They make mistakes. They can misstate a date, overstate your experience, misread a language requirement, or write a sentence about you that is not true.

Before you send anything, read the CV and the cover letter in full, check every fact in them against your own history, and correct whatever is wrong.

A document that reaches an employer carries your name. You are responsible for what it says. A false claim in an application is your problem with that employer, and where your right to work is involved it can become your problem with an authority.

The same goes for scores. 80% is a machine's opinion about an advertisement. Read the posting before you act on it.

8. What you agree to

9. Your content, and who owns what

Your CV and everything you write stays yours. You give me no rights to it beyond what running the service for you requires: reading it, scoring postings against it, writing your documents, and storing the extracted details until you delete them. That permission ends when you delete your account.

The documents the service writes for you are yours. Use them however you like. There is no restriction and no attribution requirement.

The service itself, its code, its design and the wording of these pages, is mine.

10. Availability

I will try to keep it running, and I do not promise any level of uptime. Maintenance, failures, outages at suppliers and changes at the job boards can interrupt it. The morning scan can fail or return nothing.

11. Ending it

You can delete your account at any time in Settings. It is immediate, it removes everything, and you do not have to tell me why.

I can suspend or close an account if you breach these terms or if the service is being misused. Where it is reasonable I will tell you first and give you a chance to put it right.

If I shut the service down, you get at least 30 days' notice by email, so you can download anything you want to keep.

Accounts not used for 12 months are deleted automatically, as the privacy policy says.

12. Liability

I am liable without limitation for injury to life, body or health, for intent and gross negligence, and under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz).

For slight negligence I am liable only where the obligation breached is one whose fulfilment makes proper performance of this contract possible in the first place and on whose fulfilment you may regularly rely. In that case liability is limited to the damage typically foreseeable when the contract was concluded.

Any further liability for slight negligence is excluded. In particular, and within those limits, I am not liable for:

Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

13. Data protection

What happens to your data, which processors are involved, where it goes and how long it is kept, is set out in the privacy policy. Read it before you upload anything.

14. Changes to these terms

If these terms change in a way that affects your position, you get an email at least 30 days before it takes effect, saying what is changing and why. If you do not want the change, delete your account before that date. Using the service after it takes effect means you accept it.

Corrections that do not change your position, such as a typo or a clearer wording of the same rule, take effect when they are published.

15. Consumer dispute resolution

I am neither willing nor obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board (§ 36 VSBG).

16. Final provisions

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer habitually resident in another country, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory provisions of that country's law.

If you are a consumer, claims can only be brought in the courts that the law provides for, which normally means the courts of the place where you live.

If one provision of these terms is or becomes invalid, the rest stays in force.

These terms exist in English and German. The English version is the one you agreed to. The German version is provided so that it can be read in German. If the two differ, whichever version is more favourable to you applies.
